    The role of the Systems Engineer is to design and deploy system solutions to meet the requirements of core organizational functions, as well as evaluate and recommend technologies required to meet those requirements. This individual will provide the highest levels of support to ensure the availability, reliability, integrity and efficient operation of the systems that support the enterprise applications. The Systems Engineer will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to trouble shoot complex issues and drive the root cause of system outages in a complex enterprise environment. The position demands someone who is highly technically competent, detail oriented, and self-motivated to conduct design and support of systems infrastructure.

    Responsibilities

    • Design and deploy new platforms and enhancements to existing infrastructure, software and operating systems
    • Maintain documentation of infrastructure and server requirements
    • Recommend and implement approved policies, procedures and technologies to ensure security and integrity of the enterprise environment
    • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
    • Maintain Patch Management for all hardware and software
    • Perform high-level root cause analysis in support of service interruption recovery as well as creating and documenting preventive measures. This includes working with our vendors to maintain a stable environment
    • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions and work with our vendors to implement those fixes
    • Establish and maintain effective test environment for all business critical applications
    • Understand and abide by Incident, Problem and Change Management processes and procedures
    • Provide 2nd and 3rd tier support during and after normal business hours
    • Work as a strong team contributor and provide technical expertise
    • Stay abreast of emerging trends in Information Technology

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in MIS or similar technical program or acceptable industry and work experience
    • Five plus years of demonstrable experience in the design, implementation, and support of infrastructure systems, applications, and related technologies
    • Extensive experience with Microsoft server operating systems, Active Directory, Linux platforms, VMware and related technologies
    • Experience designing and implementing high availability solutions such as: clustering, data replication, dynamic resource allocation, and related procedures
    • Expertise with Group Policy management for both Microsoft and Non-Microsoft servers
    • Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage management and backup management and ability to troubleshoot hardware issues related to SAN/NAS and other related storage hardware
    • Experience working in highly regulated environment (PCI, SOX)
    • Ability to manage projects
    • Effective collaboration skills to mentor other technical staff to ensure reliable integration of systems and processes
    • Must be a self-starter that is reliable, punctual, and consistent with excellent organizational and documentation skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
    • Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Must be willing to work extended hours at times depending on company needs and be available for on call duty
    • Must have valid driver’s license
    • Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
    • Must pass Company background check
    • Must pass pre-employment drug test

     

    Work Environment

    This job routinely operates in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machine. This role frequently requires employee to travel between destinations and be exposed to heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. At times, employee is required to use personal protective equipment.

     

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand for extended periods of time greater than two hours at a time. Employee must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and be able to squat for a short period of time. Visual acuity to type, read reports, enter and produce data is essential. The employee must be able to hear and speak clearly for telephone communications
